ABOUT US

Our facilitators have a passion to engage in community conversations and public deliberation. We have hosted deliberations on a local issue such as the Saline County Jail and several regional and national issues.

TALK Salina is a Network Partner and utilizes the National Issues Forum Institute model  (NIFI) when hosting events. The NIFI model is a structured conversation with materials and guidebooks provided by NIFI (or develoed locally by TALk Salina) . Guidebooks contain three approaches to an issue and focus on all sides of a topic. Guidebooks are developed by researching and interviews from a wide spectrum of citizen viewpoints.

Local events are  then facilitated after research, gathering interviews, and preparing a discussion guidebook on the topic to be deliberated.

During an event, 4-6 participants are seated at a round table with a trained facilitator and notetaker. Three options are presented on the issue and discussed for 20 minutes each. At the end of the event, someone from each table shares the discussion results.  Within a few days, a written report is made available to the host organization or the community.
